Perfection!

First of all, how did I not know about menstrual cups until I was 40? These are absolutely brilliant—more sanitary, environmentally friendly, and better for your body than tampons. Second, your success with a cup relies upon finding the right fit and firmness. My first cup was the original June cup in small. Based on several quizzes, I was guided to get a small cup. It worked but it was a struggle to get the soft cup to unfurl and “pop” open. I also found the size to be just a bit uncomfortable after my first (and only heavy day) of my cycle. Through some research, I learned that a more firm cup might help with the unfurling so I ordered one. I also decided to get a mini out of curiosity. Well, the firm mini cup was the perfect blend of what I needed for a great experience with a cup. I’m not a particularly small person—I’m 5’5” and around 145lbs. I’m also 41 but have never given birth. When I first started researching cups, I assumed the mini was for young females (teens) but that couldn’t be further from the truth. I needed a mini because my cervix sits low during my cycle and got in the way of the cup popping open. Also, it’s incredible how much you learn about your cycle using a cup. I always believed that I had a very heavy flow which was another reason I steered away from the mini cup at first. As it turns out, I have a fairly regular flow that barely filled half a small cup after 12 hours so I knew I was safe to experiment with the mini. I also barely fill half of the mini cup after the second day of my cycle. Tampons really do make it hard to judge your flow. So what am I saying? First—try a cup! It’s incredibly liberating. And second—if at first you don’t succeed, try again with a different size and/or firmness. Once you get the fit you need, I promise you that you’ll never want to go back to tampons. Ps—also splurge for the collapsible sanitizing cup and pH balanced cleanser. They make keeping you cup clean a breeze!

Works like a charm

Works great for me! Easy to insert and remove. I am still figuring out how often to empty on my heavy days to avoid some minor leaks. But love the fit.
